Bedroom and Closet Completed

I guess I got the best Christmas gift a gal could ask for (well this gal anyway) a new 9×3 foot closet and a newly renovated bedroom. While Dave did the bulk of the work, I chipped in the last week for the bedroom part. That included lots of painting and wood holding. I am thrilled with the closet and the look of the bedroom. The bed is turned so that you face it when you enter the room and there is lots of room along both sides of the bed. I have the new-to-me bureau at the end of the bed and Dave has the tall one in the corner which has yet to be painted. I found it at Habitat for Humanity on Christmas Eve – the store called to me as I was driving by – and there it was the exact height and size for the space I had to fill. Only in Florida can you want a piece of furniture for a special spot and find it at the Goodwill, Habitat or yard sale. The fun of the whole project was finding the various pieces and making them all work. It reminded us of the projects we used to do together at the trailer in Evangeline Beach.

I am sure you all know that I could fill that 9 feet of closet space without any effort - and I did !

The bed with a "brand new" coverlet and shams - Black Friday bargains (saved $100) - the green accent pieces were the ones used before renovation but which really worked well with the teal colour.

View of room from main doorway!

This is the view of the door into the closet and shows the great chair rail that we put around the room.

The chest from Habitat - needs a paint job and hardware but is otherwise perfect for the space!

Dave even made window boxes that hide the venetian blind hardware!
