We cannot believe that five months have already passed and that we are getting ready for another season in sunny Florida. Dave has decided that he is tired of the drive (me not so much since I sleep most of the way LOL) and we will be taking the Camry and leaving it there. That does mean that the load I take this year is the last one – and sadly that what I can bring back in May is limited. Weighing suitcases will be new for us! I am good with that, surprisingly, and will shop accordingly.
Starting the Countdown
Heading North
Well the six months of heavenly living is just about over. Dave and I will be heading out in the morning (May 11) and expect that we will be on the road for 3 days. With any luck we should be back in Dartmouth Sunday evening. Today the beach was great – 80 degree water, brisk warm breeze and great waves. It was a little sad realizing that it is over again for another year.
The Killams Visit
New Camera
Apparently after 6 heavy years of use – much of it at the beach – my camera lens said – NO MORE – and promptly would not retract. So it was off to get a new one this morning – and then to the beach this eve to field test it at the sunset. The zoom is 35x as compared to the 12x of my old one. Here are the pics I took from Service Beach looking toward Venice Pier. I was experimenting with the zoom – lots of fun.
The beach visit is always fun at sunset – interesting people all gathering for the nightly ritual. I continue to work with the new camera and try new things. Here are a few pics taken of the sun as it set.
We spent Saturday and today at the beach just south of the pier/Sharky’s and across from the entrance to the golf course (South Brohard Park) . It is our annual visit because that beach is next door to the dog beach (Brohard Paws Park) and we love to walk up the beach a get a close up of all the dogs. There were about 50 dogs each day and to say that they were having fun would be an understatement. They run in packs and the humans are basically only there to watch. Lots were in the water swimming or chasing balls which were thrown in the water for them. Today one little white Pomeranian actually came down the beach to our chairs which were 400 yards away from the dog beach line. He then kept heading south and out of sight – last we saw he was making a beeline for Caspersans Beach. When we went for our walk to the beach, we finally met up with people looking for the dog. They were very surprised that he had gone down the beach so far. On our return from watching the other dogs at play we met up with the owner who had eventually found him.
On Friday night (May 4) we were off to Sharky’s for the Corkery’s last night. The weather was spectacular and we managed a mango bango, dinner, sunset and a preview of the super moon due May 5. We are sorry to see the last of the Canucks leave – but we only have 6 days left and we too will be homeward bound.
Beach Pics April
On April 25th Stephen and Carol Hiltz visited for the afternoon. We had a great lunch at TJ Carney’s on Venice Avenue and then we split up for the afternoon. Dave and Stephen made the journey to Snook Haven and Venice Beach while Carol and I did the shops on Venice Avenue. It is always so much fun to shop along that street.
Pimp my Ride
Several weeks ago I bought a 3 wheel bike which I am enjoying. Although they scream “old fart”, I love the way they ride and I manage to tool around the park quite a bit. Marilyn has one too and we travel around the park and visit. Last week I drove it to Goodwill and to get my hair cut. So for a birthday treat Dave got me streamers, a squeezy dalmation horn and spoke discs and when he was buying them at the bike shop the clerk asked – are these for your grandkids – and he happily answered that they were for his wife for her 62nd birthday. Needless to say that got a few laughs.
