Snook Haven

We were off to Snook Haven for the first time this year. The sun and warmth cooperated and we had a great time watching the sights. Of course no trip there is complete without a plate of Myakka River Chips.

Red Hat Luncheon

Liz and I geared up for the monthly luncheon – the theme this time was School Days and we wore plaid peddal pushers and matching Baby Girl tops. As always it is fun to see the sights and be fed and entertained. The skit was funny (set to the tune of the 12 Days of Christmas) and had us singing along by the end.

Budweiser Clydesdales Come to Venice

The Budweiser Clydesdales are a group of Clydesdale horses used for promotions and commercials by the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Company. There are six "hitches" or teams of horses, five that travel around the United States and one that remains in their official home at the company headquarters at the Anheuser-Busch brewery complex in St. Louis, Missouri, where they are housed in a historic brick and stained-glass stable built in 1885. There are eight horses driven at one time, but ten horses are on each team to provide alternates for the hitch when needed. Liz and Earl joined us for a stroll down Venice Avenue while we waited for the team to come by. It was cool so we stopped for a fresh scone and coffee at the Upper Crust! Delicious!

Week #4 Eat Out

The group has grown significantly – we were 19 people for the fourth outing. Added to the group this time were Judy and Mike Cullen (who live in our condo), Dennis and Geri Irwin (from Colby and who bought the MacIntyre trailer), and Mary Evelyn’s American cousins Bob and Gerry. We ate at Ophelia’s and I had the best meal in a long time – honey/ginger salmon.

Golden Goal

Well we had a blast watching the US-Canada hockey game. The guys watched the game here and the gals next door in Carol Anne’s trailer. Liz and I spent the game time in our place making cards and watching the game. Needless to say the outcome was fantastic with our local boy making it all good for us. After the win, all 13 of us went to Charles and Carol Ann’s for a potluck supper. The media here were quite kind and the front page of the sport section of the Tampa Tribune had this great pic this morning. Cole Harbour is on the map now for sure.

Weekly Supper Out

The Wednesday supper-out group grew this week to 16 – there is no lack of new conversation when there is someone new each week. We were off to Buddy’s Pizza where there was a great special. For $20 we got a large pizza, huge salad and a jug of beer.

Beach Day

On Sunday we headed to the beach for bocce and a BBQ. The plan went well until the clouds came in and rained threatened. Liz and I did manage to spend an hour with our feet in the sand. Although this has been a cooler than usual winter, the days are getting warmer. I am quite certain that there will be lots of beach days in our future. Meanwhile Liz and I shop and stamp while Dave and Earl golf.

Ohio/Indiana Dinner

This weekend we attended the Ohio-Indiana Dinner. Our group was quite large as Earl and Liz attended as did Pete and Collette. It was a good one and we enjoyed the meal as well as the socializing.

Stamp Fest 2010

Liz and I travelled to Clearwater to attend the 15th annual Stamp Fest where we shopped, watched demos, and made cards for the day. We were thrilled with the items we saw and the lessons we learned. The event really was a great experience and we can hardly wait for next year.

Red Hat Diamond Diva Convention

Over 300 ladies attended the annual Englewood Convention and the theme was diamonds. The amount of bling was astounding. Liz and I had a ball with the whole event but just had to have our picture taken with a queen whose outfit was over-the-top.
