Week 7

Hello to all! We have been watching CTV news faithfully and know that Cindy Day has blessed you with some interesting weather. Last week we were the only state/province in North America which didn’t have snow – yes that’s right Hawaii even had some in the mountains. We started the post season off with a shutting off of the Laidlaw’s Christmas lights with a great party which included lots of laughs and karaoke. Dave and I have had 2 Board meetings and 1 general meeting here at the park association- a little tiresome but necessary. The guys have been off to the movies twice (True Grit and The Fighter) and the gals once to see The King’s Speech. Dave and I went to dinner at Red Lobster with the Gallants followed by Ain’t Misbehavin at the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe. We have played dominoes at the Hall – the gals won! And at Molly and George’s – the gals won! We’ve continued work in the yard and on the patio, managed some beach time, and sunning in the yard. We have had dinner at the Gallaants and the Laidlaws. This past weekend we attended the Kentucky Dinner at the hall. Busy we are but it is all good. We are looking forward to the arrival of the MacIntyres, Munroes, Cullens and Corkerys starting this Thursday. Hurry up and get here !!!

I have included some beach pictures this time as the Daniels and Donovans are tired of the blah weather and requested them – so if you too are needing to see the sun shine enjoy!

Happy New Year

The new year is well underway and we are continuing to enjoy life in Venice. I guess I have been busier than I thought since Dorothy called this morning to see if I was still alive. So I think it is time to post a message and a few pics. We began the new year with dinner at Ophelia’s Restaurant and followed by a champagne toast at Carole and Doug Wood’s house by the beach. This first week of the new year has been busy with “projects”. Dave finished the backyard and we are very pleased to have such a nice spot to sit and enjoy the sun ( as well as, the view of the rubber tree now that the shed is moved). I was quite interested in updating the window treatments in the living room so that became project #2. We removed the mini blinds and the valences and added 2″ plantation blinds. It has lightened the room and made it less “country”. Jan, Mary D. and I will all be happy now ! LOL

This past weekend we attended the Welcome Back Potluck at the Hall. The delicious pork roast and potatoes was complimented by many dishes that were made by residents.

We want to wish all of you a Happy New Year and all the best in 2011.
