Anna Marie Island Road Trip

We spent Mother’s Day on a short road trip. Early we were off to the Red Barn Flea Market in Bradenton. After that we took a tour of Anna Marie Island and had lunch on the pier overlooking the Skyway Bridge, Fort De Soto and Isla del Sol.

Beach Days

The last two weeks have been super at the beach – water temp is about 80 and the air close to 90. It makes it worth the stay through such warm weather to be able to spend time in the water.

Troy and Shirley’s Party

The Brown’s – Troy and Shirley – had a party and invited the “Canadians” as a thank you for all the work our guys did on his new laminate floor. It was a great time. Peggy – check out your four American buddies! Danny and Troy have teamed up to sing and it was quite nice to revisit the days of camping in Evangeline Campground when Danny entertained us most Friday and Saturday nights.

Dominoes

As you know we love the big dominoe competitions and have successfully taught the game to everyone who shows up in Venice. We ought to get a cut of the sales for the game!

Hiltz Visit

Carol and Stephen Hiltz are at their place in Sarasota for 2 weeks and we had them down for lunch and golf/shopping. It was a spectacular day and we all enjoyed our respective adventures. Carol and I toured Venice Avenue and managed to see lots of the shops. I think they could clearly see that we love the FLORIDA LIFESTYLE !!!

19th Hole

After golf the guys usually gather for a few beer. What a life!

Country Fest 2010

We were lucky to be offered 6 free tickets to Country Fest 2010 in Port Charlotte (about 40 kms from here). Fortunately we had the perfect company available for this – Dan & Marilyn and Garth & Florence joined us for a day at the fairgounds. We borrowed George’s van and it was a “road trip” for the six of us. Like old times we joked and laughed as we watched the sights. There was an abundance of tattoed folk as well as just about every imaginable outfit you could think of. The highlight of the day was the last act – Sammy Kershaw. (Cindy MacFarlane – you’d have loved it!).

Mango Bango

Sharkey’s was a great destination for supper – great temperature and only a slight breeze. I had my third mango bango of the season (not a big drinker eh).
